our process.

As we witness the breeding, we document an estimated due date. The expectant conure becomes the center of our attention. Female birds (hens) are provided with a balanced diet throughout their egg-laying and incubation period, along with special treats to ensure they are healthy and strong for the arrival of their chicks. As the hatching period approaches, we prepare a comfortable nesting area, ensuring that the hen has everything she needs for a smooth and safe arrival of her babies. We monitor her closely as the hatching day nears, ready to assist if necessary.

Once the conures have hatched and are healthy… What happens next?

From day one, the baby conures (chicks) are handled with care. We gently touch their faces, feet, and beaks to get them accustomed to human interaction right from the start. Socialization is a key part of their early development, so we make sure they are comfortable with being touched and handled as they grow. We introduce them to various environments and sounds to ensure they are well-adjusted. This includes exposure to common household noises, other birds, and even children.

We begin the process of Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS), gently stimulating them to support brain development and confidence-building. This early experience aids in producing balanced, well-socialized conures who will be ready for their new homes.

As they grow older, we provide them with opportunities for supervised out-of-cage exploration, which helps with coordination, muscle development, and confidence. When they are old enough, typically around 8 weeks, we take them for a thorough vet check-up, ensuring they are in perfect health before they join their new families.

When do I choose my conure?

While baby conures start to show individual personality traits around 5-6 weeks of age, we wait until after temperament testing to help match them with their new homes. At this stage, we can provide a general idea of each bird’s temperament, but we cannot guarantee how these traits will evolve. It is up to you, as their new family, to nurture desirable behaviors and address any challenges that may arise. By the time they reach 12 weeks, they will be well-adjusted, and we will help guide you in choosing the best match for your home!
